Slam Dunk was my favorite wrestler from WOW. At 6'3" and with her array of power moves she was completely dominant. Her matches against Jade and Lotus were pure massacres, even polishing them off in a handicap match. These are also two very well chosen matches, demolishing the gorgeous but inept Jane Blond in 4:25 and the hot but brainless Sandy in 3:10. But those times don't tell half the story as between Slam Dunk's in ring posturing and strutting and her massive overkill against her opponents, she could have gotten the same results in less than 2 minutes for both girls. What's funny is that the fans are cheering for Slam Dunk and not for her 'good girl' foes ... fans want to root for a winner! And Slam Dunk was certainly a winner!
But it would be a mistake to assume that Slam Dunk is so dominant simply because of her height and strength. As the announcer notes, she is also very smart, and facing an opponent like Jane Blond, who makes a bunch of dumb mistakes, an easy victory becomes a massacre.
This match is a good illustration of the black wrestler's ring smarts. Jane goes on the offensive early in the match, but her strategy seems not to take into account that her opponent is 6'3". Jane gets Slam into a leg lock, but is wide open to Slam Dunk's boot to her gut which quickly breaks the hold. Jane then hip tosees Slam, but Slam just tugs the Brit's hair and snares her in a crushing head scissors. Jane's offense is easily negated by Slam Dunk at every turn as she takes advantage of Jane's carelessness.
In a great sequence, Slam Dunk challenges Jane to a test of strength. Jane naturally declines, but then Slam Dunk tries to rally the crowd to her side and taunts Jane as being a chicken. The head games finally get to Jane and she reluctantly, but foolishly accepts the test, just as Slam Dunk had hoped. The test goes exactly as you would expect, with Jane getting very much the worst of things. Slam Dunk wins the battle of wits hands down; Jane is outclassed on all fronts!
Jane's last real attempt at offense is when she gets an opening to give her big dropkick finisher. But again, the ring smart Slam Dunk sees it coming and catches herself on the ropes, letting the Brit plummet to the mat, her boots nowhere near making contact. Slam Dunk's intelligence turns Jane's big move into an epic fail. It's 2:16 into the match and things go rapidly down hill for Jane Blond after that (not that she was ever doing that well before).
Two more big mistakes by Jane Blond, which Slam Dunk thoroughly exploits, pretty much seals the deal for the inept Brit. She literally runs face first into not one, but two Big Boots from the Amazonian - proportioned wrestler. Needless to say, the effects of these are devastating for the beautiful blonde, and Slam Dunk wraps things up with a splash and an uncontested pin.
The whole affair lasts 4:25, but if you subtract Slam Dunk's strutting and hamming it up, you get 3:10. Although truth be told, Slam Dunk could have probably wiped Blond out in less time than that. Again, Slam Dunk's overwhelming win has as much to do with her brains as her brawn, and Jane Blond could not keep up with Slam physically or mentally!
